Autopilot Mode Tesla crashed into A Police Vehicle U.S. Investigates

Rumors circulating the state after Tesla allegedly was in Autopilot Mode while it crashed the police vehicle.  The U.S. Auto Agency will send a team to investigate a crash involving a Tesla suspected to be in an Autopilot Mode. On Wednesday, the agency also stated that the incident took place late at night yesterday.

“While investigating that crash with their emergency lights on, a Tesla on autopilot strikes the patrol car,” the agency said. No one got injured, and the authenticated owner of Tesla’s Autopilot mode Vehicle was issued traffic citations.

Tesla Autopilot Mode had struck a Michigan State Police patrol car. Michigan State Police tweeted that the car had struck the petrol car at 1:12 AM on Wednesday. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) said that it was assigning The Special Crash Investigation(SCI) Team in line with its authority. It claimed, SCI would look over the safety of all motor vehicles and equipment, including automated technologies.

Tesla has been in the news as many controversies fueled up across the state regarding accidents that occurred while driving in the Autopilot Mode. A few weeks earlier, NHTSA had authorized 14 SCI teams for investigating the matters regarding Tesla’s vehicle. The vehicles are suspected to be tied to its Autopilot Driver Assistance System. The U.S auto agency as a result has not taken action against the probes.

Tesla advises drivers to keep their hands intact with the steering wheel while driving in the Autopilot Mode. In February 2020,  the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) sharply criticized Tesla’s lack of system safeguards in a fatal 2018 Autopilot crash in California. Tesla drivers say they can avoid using their hands for extensive periods when driving in.
