Seasonal Flu Shots along with Covid Vaccines Offered at New Hanover County

New Hanover County Public Health officials are still encouraging individuals to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and the Seasonal Flu as local COVID-19 measurements continue to move in the good direction. Residents interested in acquiring the COVID-19 vaccine should visit Health.NHCgov.com for information on the vaccine as well as walk-in clinic hours and locations. In addition, starting Monday, October 18, Public Health will give drive-up flu vaccines at the Health and Human Services Building (1650 Greenfield Street) for two weeks.

“When it comes to COVID-19, we are certainly seeing good signs in terms of fewer positive test results, fewer cases, increased vaccination numbers and fewer hospitalizations,” said Public Health Director David Howard. “As we continue to collect and review the data on COVID in our community, we are cautiously optimistic about seeing things improve and want this trend to continue.

Our hard work is paying off. With this in mind, we encourage everyone to remain vigilant and keep our collective guard up with our preventative measures related to COVID, and for the Seasonal Flu.”Drive-up flu shots will be available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from October 18 to 29. Flu shots will be offered free of charge to anyone aged six months and up. There is no need to show proof of residency or insurance, and there is no need to make an appointment.

Residents with insurance should bring their cards to the appointment, but Public Health will not pay. Unfortunately, there will be no other vaccines available at the drive-up clinic. Still, residents can always go inside the Health and Human Services clinic to get a first or second dose of the Pfizer (Comirnaty) or Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
